What is The Attorney’s Role During A Real Estate Transaction?
- The attorney’s role is to protect my client.
- For a buyer, I want to make sure they are protected in the contract in terms of what the seller is representing to them about the house, or a co-op unit, or condo unit.
- Representing a seller is very similar in that they have certain concerns. For example, they might want to know that the buyer is moving along in the process and obtaining a mortgage commitment.
- In any event, my role is to answer questions, guide the process along, and bring it to a happy closing where all parties are shaking hands and leaving with what they wanted to do.
